Privacy Policy

This page describes what data TheSimsClub collects, why it is needed and what you can do about it. We collect the minimum: without an account you read the site anonymously.

Account data

Registration is optional. You need it only to comment, take part in discussions and receive notifications.

When you register by email we store your name, email address and password. The password is stored as a hash, and the original password cannot be recovered from it.

When you sign in with Google or Discord, the provider gives us your name, email address and avatar. No password is created, and we get no access to your account with that provider.

You may add an avatar, a bio and links to your own profiles. All of it is shown publicly on your author page — filling those fields in is your choice.

What you publish

Comments, discussion replies and images you upload are visible to every visitor along with your name and avatar. Do not put anything in them that should stay private.

Technical data

• Server logs. Your IP address is processed to block spam and rate-limit requests. We do not build a visitor profile from it.
• Analytics. We run Umami on our own server. Umami sets no cookies and collects nothing that identifies you: it counts page views, referrer, device type and on-site search queries. We send no data to third-party analytics services.
• Form protection. Instead of a tracking captcha we use ALTCHA: your browser solves a computational puzzle locally and no data leaves it.

Cookies and browser storage

• Session. The sign-in cookie. Without it you do not stay logged in. It is removed when you sign out.
• Theme. Your light or dark theme choice is kept in your browser’s localStorage and never sent to the server.

There are no advertising or tracking cookies on the site.

Where data is stored

Text and accounts live in the database, images in object storage. Only site administrators have access to the database.

Third-party services

• Google and Discord — only if you chose to sign in with them.
• Cloudflare — image delivery.
• YouTube — videos in articles load from YouTube, and Google’s terms apply once you play one.

We do not sell your data or pass it to third parties for advertising.

How long we keep it

Account data, for as long as the account exists. Comments stay until you or the editors remove them. Server logs are kept briefly — they only serve to stop abuse.

Your rights

You can view and change your data in the “Profile” section. To delete your account together with your comments, or to request a copy of your data, write to us — the address is on the Contacts page.

Children

The site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has registered with us, write to us and we will remove the account.
